Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks

Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks is a periodic Halley-type comet that returned to the inner Solar System in 2024. The comet is known for its structured coma and dramatic outbursts, which can temporarily increase its brightness. Under favorable conditions, the comet can be photographed with medium-sized telescopes, revealing fine details in the coma and tail. Based on its orbital period of approximately 71 years, the comet is expected to return again around the year 2095.
