HCG 84 is a compact group of four galaxies located in the constellation Capricornus.
The members are relatively faint and show subtle signs of interaction, including diffuse
halos and slight distortions in their outer regions. Because of its low surface brightness,
HCG 84 is a challenging target that benefits greatly from long integration times and
excellent sky conditions.
Deeper imaging reveals delicate tidal structures and faint extensions around several of
the galaxies, indicating ongoing gravitational influence within the group.
