Caldwell 39, commonly known as the Eskimo Nebula, is a bright planetary nebula
in the constellation Gemini. Its inner shell surrounds a hot central star, while the outer
halo displays intricate filamentary structures formed by earlier mass ejections. The nebula
lies approximately 3,000 light-years away and is a striking example of a dying star shedding
its outer layers.
My telescope's focal length is actually too short for this object. The photo inset is 300% of the original.
